MUST HAVE for 1Up Arcade Star Wars Cabinet | GRS Flight Yoke
Arcade 1Up recently shared the news that they were bringing back the Star Wars arcade cabinet, but one of the biggest flaws or weak points of the system is the stock flight yoke. Glen from Glenn's Retro Show has designed and produced an upgraded unit, and they were kind enough to send us one.
One of the amazing things about this controller is the fact that it is not only compatible with the Arcade 1Up machine but also works with the original 1983 Atari machines and USB devices. That wide range of compatibility is exceptional. To accomplish this feat, three different connectors are included and pre-wired for you. Simply select the right connector for your particular application, plug it in, and get to playing.
From the moment you pull this flight yoke out of the box, it feels like a quality piece. It has serious heft to it, Thanks to the metal construction. The trigger and push button also feel wonderful compared to the somewhat mushy and failure-prone stock arcade 1Up units.
Glenn and his team have added a very similar wrap to the center part of the yolk as the original Star Wars arcade machine. One thing conspicuous by its absence is the Atari logo, but this makes perfect sense. He doesn't have the licensing to use that logo, nor could he put Star Wars on it for the same reason. The cool thing is you can purchase vinyl decals to go on here to replicate the look of the original if you really desire.
As of right now, we should have our Star Wars cabinet in a little bit over 2 weeks, and I cannot wait to put it together and bought this to the control deck. Thank you to Glen and the Thunderstick team for sending out a sample for us to check out, I am super excited.
