Another seminar in history presented by Melissa Brockman, high school social studies teacher. This month's topic is Abraham Lincoln and how he saved our Republic. Her presentation will include a brief biography on Lincoln and then we'll analyze three of his important important writings: A Fragment on the Constitution and Union, the Gettysburg Address, and his Second Inaugural Address. Through studying his writings, we will come to understand Lincoln's principles and why he viewed saving the Union as the most important objective he (and the country) would ever face. Analyzing his thoughts and ideas will help us trace a line from our nation's founding principles to Lincoln's own time and challenges.
