As the father of Greek tragedy, Aeschylus, remarked more than two-and-a-half millennia ago, truth is always the first casualty of war. In the case of the Ukrainian conflict, with its unprecedented levels of censorship and deliberate distortions, truth had been banished even before the interstate hostilities broke out. Can honoring reality pave the way to peace?
