Affected, The Manor VR #1 - Flashlight Needs New Batteries

Grab a trusty ol' faulty flashlight and join me on a spooky trek through a long forgotten house with a dark secret yet lurking within... and the dolls aren't even the half of it.

Available on Steam, I had a hard time getting this game to work properly. The default controls didn't seem to work at all - in the end I had to use two buttons (grip *and* trigger) to get the grab function to work. Not something I've experienced in other games.

Turn speed was snail-pace slow to start with, and for some reason the only other option provided was to go even s-l-o-w-e-r. So, instead of the jarring 45-90 degree snap turn, we'll have to rely on ye olde fashioned "turning your body to face the way you want to go and trying not to get tangled up on your vr cable" approach. It's the way our forefathers did it for hundreds of years, and it still works well today.

When VR is done really well - such as here - you have a profound sense of presence, of being in the environments you are exploring. This is especially so when an evil doll jumps all over your face! I found this game to be highly immersive and very, very eerie. Especially when an evil doll jumped all over my face.
