When To Spray Dormant Oil on Fruit Trees and Why

Today I am showing you the reason why I am spraying dormant oil on my fruit trees.
After last year, I realized that I couldn't just leave my fruit trees to be and be able to harvest fruit from them. One tree, in particular, was severely damaged by insects and ruined all of my fruit. Also, while pruning this year, I noticed some insect eggs on one apple tree.
This year I am trying to be more proactive in my approach so I am trying to spray my trees to protect them as much as I can while avoiding harsh chemicals.
I try to be as natural as I can, I know some don't believe in anything added in but I believe in some inputs that are needed. I will be spraying this year with dormant oil and possibly a fungicide in a few weeks. We will continue to build out our fruit tree guilds and continue to add companion plants to help deter what bugs and fungus we can. We will also add in spraying compost tea as well.
The beneficial bacteria in compost tea are supposed to benefit the trees as well as kill some funges also.
As we have stated many times, this is all trial and error for us as this is our first fruit orchard. It is all a learning process and we are sharing our experiences with you so you can learn too.
