Game review

A very enjoyable romp through amnesia and figuring out the sordid details of what once was brings full circle this quite original tale. Amnesia: The Dark Descent is one of the very first modern game progenitors that set the groundwork for MANY games to follow in it's footsteps.

My favorite aspect of horror games - the sound design - is on full display here. Every single nuanced creak and scream throughout the castle makes you think your demise is right around the corner.

Graphically, this game held up extraordinarily well. Simple designs and textures still play flawlessly to this day, and the AI behind the various denizens of the castle, while straightforward, is elegant in it's design.

The ending fell a little flat for me, but the story throughout kept me gripping my seat well enough to meet this game through to the end.

Very well, done. I can highly recommend this game.

FINAL RATING: 9/10
