Ukraine has taken a firm stance and imposed sanctions on a total of 182 companies based in Russia and Belarus, as well as three individuals, in light of the ongoing conflict with Russia. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that "their assets in Ukraine are blocked, their properties will be used for our defence" (Zelenskyy). The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) went on to provide further detail, revealing that the sanctioned companies were engaged in the transportation of goods, leasing of vehicles and chemical production. The sanctions are intended to serve as a deterrent to any further aggression by limiting the operations of the targeted companies.
