Gasworks Park in Seattle, Washington is unique. The city took an old coal gasification plant, built a huge mound out of the buildings, kept the old plant intact, put in grass and a playground, and said, "Yeah, this works." It's also one of, if not the, most popular parks in the Seattle area.
