Tyre Nichols Arrest & Potential Murder - Bodycam Footage Released

An incident of police brutality in Memphis, where a 29-year-old Black man, Tyre Nichols, was beaten by police during a traffic stop, resulting in his death, is expected to be made public through footage on Friday.

The Nichols family's lawyers have stated that Nichols was treated like a "human piñata," and the Memphis Police Chief has called the attack "heinous, reckless, and inhumane."

Due to the severity of the incident, the Memphis Police Department and other law enforcement agencies across the country are bracing for potential civil unrest following the release of the footage.

Five officers involved in the incident, all Black, have been fired following an internal investigation that found them to be "directly responsible" for the beating and in violation of departmental policies on excessive force, duty to intervene, and duty to render aid.
