On the night body cam footage was released of Tyre Nichols, Antifa held a vigil for him before marching through the streets and then rioting. The vigil started off quiet with a few speakers then the group marched around the block and returned to the vigil where they began removing barricades from in front of the police HQ. As the group started going towards the entrance LAPD officers in riot gear exited the building and creating a line blocking the entrance. More officers came from the distances that’s when the group dispersed from the HQ entrance, fearing a kettle. (Kettling, also known as containment or corralling, is a police tactic for controlling large crowds during demonstrations or protests. It involves the formation of large cordons of police officers who then move to contain a crowd within a limited area.) They ran towards the arriving LAPD cop cars. LAPD was overwhelmed then they began getting attacked by Antifa. The cop cars getting attacked fled that’s when more LAPD officers in riot gear arrived. The group seemed the calm a little but some remained and yelled at the officers. 01/27/23
