We had a number of subscribers mention that they wanted us to check out the new R51 9mm single stack from Remington. Here you go guys, a quick look at the new offering. Hopefully we'll be able to get one out to the range as soon as they hit the shelves. My initial impression of the gun certainly isn't 100 percent positive. The trigger feels smooshy and cheap. The guns feels very cheap in general. Hard to explain...it just doesn't feel like a quality firearm in your hand when you pick it up. I still want to get one out to the range though because the proof is in the pudding. If it's a better shooter than the LC9, sure I suppose it's a contender. The pistol does utilize some pretty classic lines. It is lightweight also...in the video I incorrectly identified the frame construction as polymer when in fact, it is an alloy frame gun. I suppose this speaks well of the gun's balance and slim profile. The gun also is not striker fired, but fired from an internal single action hammer system. If I don't sound excited in the video, it's because I'm not, but I've been known to be wrong before. At least I'm honest enough to tell you what I really think. I'm just not sure this gun can compete with the LC9, but I'm sure there are some folks that will like it.
