Note: I mention this says “BYF” and state this denotes Mauser made it. What I am referring to is: During World War Two Germany decided to try and hide their ordinance production. They were probably paranoid over the provisions of the Versailles Commission that forbade Germany’s production of tools of war after WWI. Anyway any ordinance from pistols to rifles to their Great Guns were stamped with an “Ordinance Code” denoting place of manufacture instead of the name of the company.
