State Dept. condemns synagogue attack in Jerusalem

Vedant Patel State Department Deputy Spokesperson: ‘Before we get started, I wanted to offer some comments on the news out of Jerusalem. This event just unfolded before I came down and we are still gathering information. But the public reporting states that a gunman opened fire near a synagogue in Jerusalem. This is absolutely horrific. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to those killed and injured in this heinous act of violence. We condemn this apparent terrorist attack in the strongest terms. Our commitment to Israel's security remains ironclad. And we are in direct touch with our Israeli partners. And our thoughts are with the Israeli people in light of this horrific attack.’
