The Russian Defense Ministry announced that one of its hypersonic-missile carrying frigates conducted "hypersonic missile exercises" in the western part of the Atlantic Ocean. The frigate Admiral Gorshkov tested the strike capabilities of Russia's much-hyped Zircon hypersonic missile using "computer simulation" exercises. In 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the development of hypersonic missiles, named Zircon or Tsirkon.
