Have you ever talked with someone that no matter what you say, they have to do you one better? If you say that you just received a promotion at work, they immediately say, "I've received several promotions this last year." If you say that you are excited about a song that you just wrote and that you would like to sing it in church, they reply that they have sung in the choir for years and have sung many solos.
