What's happening in Lviv, Ukraine? 🇺🇦

I visited Lviv in western Ukraine between Christmas and New Year's Eve as I was meeting up with some friends, then heading onto the capital Kyiv. When I got off the plane at Lviv airport, I headed onto the bus into the city centre and when I got off the bus, oh my god was it cold. It was only about -4 degrees celcius but it felt like minus 50 to me. I had to put on extra layers of clothes and go inside as it was so cold. I managed to cobble together some footage for you to view from my time in Lviv before I got too cold.

I stumbled across a protest in the middle of Lviv, which seemed peaceful, but I had no idea what was happening.

Lviv is a really nice place, looking like a winter wonderland as you can see in the video. The park with the toys is very odd and looks mad covered with snow.

Lviv is one of the main cultural centres of Ukraine. It's the largest city in the west of Ukraine. Apparently there's a lot of Polish influence in Lviv as it's so close to the border.

Lviv was the centre of the historical regions of Red Ruthenia and Galicia. The historical heart of the city, with its old buildings and cobblestone streets, survived Soviet and German occupations during World War II largely unscathed. The city has many industries and institutions of higher education such as Lviv University and Lviv Polytechnic. Lviv is also the home of many cultural institutions, including a philharmonic orchestra and the Lviv Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The historic city centre is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Lviv is known as Lwów in Poland, which is just over the border, not too far away from Lviv. Lviv is also known as Львов in Russian.
