The side of the Dominican Republic they never show you 🇩🇴

When I decided to visit the Dominican Republic, I obviously knew there was a border towards the west of the island where Haiti and Dominican Republic were separated. I'm a simple man, if I see a border, I want to cross it. It's completely legal for me to cross this border right now, but that's no fun. I took a stroll without my camera to scope out the border crossing over a dry river bed, but on my way there, a guy was very concerned as to why I was walking where I was, and told me if I try to cross, the army will shoot me. He then came with me to the solider to explain that I just wanted to take photos. They were both friendly. I asked the soldier a few times whether I could cross, he said no because there were other guards all the way down.

After this, I decided to go to check out the beach here in Pedernales, and when I got there, it was completely deserted but beautiful. After the beach I wandered back into Pedernales a different way and spotted some abandoned buildings and outside a girl and her (maybe) grandfather were selling food and drinks, so I grabbed a lemonade and had a quick chat with her before exploring the abandoned house.
