My top 5 Edible Wild Mushrooms you can easily ID

In this video Aaron Hilliard, the Vice President of the Kitsap Peninsula Mycological Society and creator of Mushroom Wonderland lays out the top 5 edible wild mushrooms you can easily identify this fall in Washington State. Of course, this list is highly subjective and even Aaron himself is not sure to the truth behind calling them the top 5, but hey here we go.
We are going to have a good, in-depth look at the Pacific Golden Chanterelle (Cantharellus formosus), what they look like and where to find them. Then we look at the Lobster Mushroom, Hypomyces lactiflorum, which is actually a bizarre relationship between a host and a parasitic mushroom but when everything comes together just right it makes for some awesome edible mushrooms that are easy to ID. Then we will look at a popular one known as Chicken of the Woods, Laetiporous sulfureous- a difficult one to find but a real treat. Then we will look at the ever popular and my personal favorite, the Porcini, or Boletus edulis. These chonky boys are heavenly and sweet and savory and nutty and ohhh man, yeah, they're that good. and last but not ;least, on my top 5 list is the Shaggy Parasol AKA Chlorophyllum oliverei. A delicious wild woodland saprotrophic mushroom that can be found in abundance.
