I use this for 2 main reasons...
1) when you need to input a ups or fedex tracking number, but you only have a tracking number from a supplier that you can't input into your order
2) when marking an order "fake shipped" if the item is out of stock on my supplier's website...or the price of the item on the supplier's site is significantly higher now than when I previously listed it.
