Episode 975: Novena for Lapsed Catholics

NOVENA FOR THE
RETURN OF LAPSED CATHOLICS
TO THE SACRAMENTS.
[Repeat the following Novena prayers every day for 9 consecutive days.]
PRAYERS

Dear Lord, Jesus Christ, in Your precious Name,
I pray for the strengthening of the Catholic faith among my child(ren)
and for the return to Your blessed Church
of all lapsed and non-practicing Catholics...
for the strengthening and/or
return of your Catholic flock of sheep to You, our Divine Shepard,
and to Your divinely ordained Holy Catholic Church.

Amen.

Almighty Father,
You desire not the death of the sinner,
but that he may be converted and live.
Pour out upon us Your mercy and hear the prayers of Your servants.
Soften the hearts of Your children who have strayed from the true path
which You established for their salvation.
They are now forgetful of their duties as Catholics,
and pursue the pleasures of the world.
Grant that they may quickly return
to the practice of every Christian virtue,
so that their lives may shine with the integrity of faith,
the fervor of piety, and the ardor of charity.
Restore them all to Your sacraments
and the life of Your grace,
through the merits of the most precious Blood of Your Son,
our Savior Jesus Christ.

Amen.

O Good Shepherd, You never cease to seek out the lost,
to call home the stray,
to comfort the frightened,
and to bind up the wounded.

I ask You to bring (mention names)...
back to the practice of the Faith,
and to remove all obstacles that prevent them
from receiving Your abundant mercy,
which flows sacramentally through the heart of Your Holy Church.

Through the intercession of Mary, the Mother of God,
their Guardian Angel(s), their Patron Saint(s)
and the ever-prayerful Saint Monica,
may You pardon their sins
and unshackle them from whatever hinders their freedom to come Home.

For You, O Good Shepherd, loved us to the end
and offered Yourself to the Father For the salvation of all.

Amen.

Saint Monica,
as the Mother of St Augustine you worked tirelessly
for the return of those separated from God
and cut off from His Church.

Now that you look upon the face of the Lord in heaven,
I ask you to intercede for (mention names).
May God’s grace bring them back to the practice of the faith
and remove all the obstacles that prevent them
from receiving His abundant mercy,
which flows sacramentally through the heart of His holy Church.
Through the intercession of Mary, the Mother of God,
their Guardian Angels, their Patron Saint(s)
and through your watchful intercession, Saint Monica,
may they receive pardon from their sins
and freedom from whatever hinders their return
to the arms of the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ.
