Operation Midnight Climax was a highly controversial program carried out by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) during the 1950s and 1960s. The project involved CIA agents luring unsuspecting citizens to a safe house in San Francisco, where they were dosed with LSD and monitored behind a two-way mirror. The idea was to observe the effects of mind-altering drugs on human behavior, in order to potentially learn how to exploit that behavior for future operations.
