Producer's Pride and Dumor Chicken Feed Bad? (ferment instead!) - Ann's Tiny Life and Homestead

I've noticed over the last six to eight months a decline in my chicken's health and egg laying. I realize they lay less in the winter, but this is an extreme change! Last year around this time the hens were laying much more. I've been feeding them the same feed for years which is primarily Producers Pride and Dumor 16% layer pellets. I've noticed more powder in the bags, and my chickens just aren't doing as well. AND they're eating way more feed than my chickens ever had during any season.

Although I have no hard evidence that they've changed their formulation or process by which they make their chicken feed, I've definitely noticed changes in their overall health and appearance.

So I'm moving to fermenting various quality grains. My inspiration is from Ariel at Fy Nyth. Check out her video on how she puts together her fermented chicken feed.
