BUGHUUL'S BABYLONIAN ORIGINS WERE TOO SCARY FOR SINISTER

Bughuul is the major adversary in the horror films Sinister and the less successful Sinister II. He's one of the more menacing villains I've seen in recent years, simple in design but equally profound. He looks to be a humanoid male with dark damp hair and a Slipknot-style mask. Throughout the films, he may be seen skulking in the shadows, lurking on the backs of images, and sometimes materializing in front of his victims to frighten them. Perhaps it's the fact that Bughuul seldom appears throughout the film and yet creates such horror, as well as the fact that he's elusive enough to maintain a sense of dark mystery, that makes him such a gripping villain. Even the main character, Ellison, played by Ethan Hawk, is baffled by him and looks to be one step behind Bughuul throughout the story. But, what is this sinister film truly based on? Cool Bughuul be the brother of the canaanite deity Moloch whom by one of his wives, King Solomon was tricked into worshipping?
