God loves all people and God wanted the Ninevites to know, love and follow Him too. God told Jonah to go to his enemies and tell them to stop sinning. Jonah did not want to go. Why should we obey God? We should obey God because He made us, loves us, and His plans are good. Later, God sent His own Son, Jesus, to go to His enemies and tell them to stop sinning. Unlike Jonah, Jesus wanted to obey God. He died on the cross to save us from sin. Our key passage comes from 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 and reminds to, “Never stop praying. Give thanks in all circumstances. For this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
