A Short Communion Word

Matthew 26:26-29 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

Notice, verse 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

REMISSION of our sins.

We use remission to describe a reduction of the intensity or degree of a disease - such as cancer in remission.

It means…
Release - as from a debt, penalty, obligation
Forgiveness - pardon
Deliverance

He sets us free
Frees us from sin’s power
The penalty of our sins has been fully paid

Paul writes to the Corinthians:
1 Corinthians 11:24-25 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

This do in remembrance of me…

Take this time in REMEMBRANCE of our Lord.
Think of Him.
Behold the Man - Your King - the Lamb of God
Let your thoughts dwell on the Saviour
- Who He is
- What He has done.

Remember
- The whipping
- The nails
- The thorns
- The love He showed
- The empty tomb

Take this time also as as REMINDER of His Coming Again
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

There’s another chapter yet to be played out in His Story.

He’s coming as King and Conqueror.
