SCOTUS Set To Crush Fundamental Union Right

The right of union workers to strike is in jeopardy. The Supreme Court has indicated that it will rule in favor of Glacier Northwest Inc. in a lawsuit against the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. The legal question is whether the company can sue the union for damages in state court over a strike action in 2017. The Supreme Court appears to be saying that the Washington Supreme Court was wrong to dismiss the lawsuit, but it could be a narrow ruling and it could be put on hold until the National Labor Relations Board finishes its own investigation.

I'm not sure how much you've been following the Warrior medical strike. I was just kind of wondering what's the difference between that because they're the National Labor review board tried to find them I think 13 million dollars and the cement strike or I assuming things all right going through the Supreme Court. the cement. the cement. Oh oh oh. Well I mean I think I think I I mean I think that's part of the problem is that like you know that Northwest it's Northwest I can't remember what the name of it is against the teamster's case I think could theoretically have implications for not just the warrior met strike but all strikes. I mean I mean that's the point. I mean that that's why this is seen as being so problematic. If you allow companies the opportunity to go to the courts to sue unions for striking they're gonna severely inhibit the right to strike. And call you're saying that the warrior met think it's a similar sort of dynamic that they're doing thereby charging the union with damages. Yeah, which I don't even know what damages the core Strikers cause. I think they're trying to say missed profits or what which I think is, even more, it gets crazy in terms of what companies can sue for strike damages. Yep yeah yeah the Warrior Met like including like damages like before the strike even began sort of. like I mean it's insane all the fact that we're like you even go into this realm of suing people for standing up for their you know the rights of their labor is I mean it's a playing field you can't win on. appreciate the call. thank you.
