VA Gov. Youngkin blocks Ford/China battery plant saying it's a "Chinese front"

Virginia Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin made waves this week when he prevented a Ford electric vehicle battery plant from being built in Virginia because he claims it’s a ‘front’ for China.

Ford Motor Company was hoping to build and own this plant, but a Chinese company called the Contemporary Amperex Technology Company—would own the actual battery technology. This would mean that customers of electric vehicles with these batteries would be dependent upon the Chinese company and, therefore, the Chinese Communist Party.
