- How would St. Thomas Aquinas respond to ‘The Evil God Challenge’ if he were alive today? Put simply the ‘Evil God Challenge’ asks why we should presume that an all good God exists rather than an all evil God? The challenge is an extension of sorts of the age old questions of why would a good God allow evil to exist in the world. But this challenge takes it further by not even assuming that God is good in the first place. Perhaps, the proponents of the ‘Evil God’ argument propose, that God is all evil rather than all good. Goodness is one of the primary attributes of God as described by St. Thomas Aquinas in The Summa Theologica. Not only is God good but all goodness in the created world participates in God’s goodness, making Him not only good but Goodness itself. So how then can we prove this to be the case and how can we argue against what seems like an absurd argument, that God is actually evil itself? We’ll tackle these questions and much more on today’s Back to the Father which begins at 1pm central on all of the Guadalupe Radio Network’s social media sites (You Tube, Facebook and Twitter). We’ll close out the hour with another wild and crazy round of Trivia challenge with the Back to the Father team.
