MULTIPLE FOREST FIRES THREATEN COMMUNITIES IN CHILE! 🔴FLASH FLOODS HITS BRAZIL! 🔴JANUARY 17-18, 2023

Brazil
A strong storm left a trail of destruction, in the northern part of the state of Santa Catarina, dropping 173 mm, or 6.8 inches of rain, in 24 hours, leading to flash floods in the Rio Negrinho, Rodeio, and Benedito Novo municipalities.
Dozens of families suffered losses, two deaths were confirmed by the Fire Department, and five people are missing.

Kuwait
The heavy rains caused confusion in the traffic movement, especially in the southern region of Kuwait, as it suffered from large pools of rainwater, due to an exceptionally big amount of rain, falling in a short period, which exceeded the absorptive capacity of the rainwater drainage network in the country.
The Ministry of Interior closed a number of roads, including one in the Al Shabia area, which was affected by a landslide.

Argentina
The fierce storm of rain, wind, and hail, caused significant damage in Catamarca Province, where San Fernando, Siján, and Colana, were the most affected towns.
Thus, the phenomenon left roofs blown off and collapsed, trees of different sizes falling, damaged vehicles, and power lines felled by the force of the wind.
The storm, although short, was violent, and it dropped a big amount of rain in a short period, flooding many houses, and one hospital.
One concrete street lighting pole fell on the car, in which the couple was traveling, but they miraculously escaped unscathed.

Indonesia
Extreme rain flushed the area of ​​Suralaya Urban Village, of Cilegon City, in Banten Province, causing flooding at a number of points.
The flooding was caused because the waterways, that carry rainwater to the sea, were covered with garbage.
One of the flooded locations, is the power plant project area, as well as a number of roads, and houses.
Classes were temporarily suspended, due to flooded schools.

Chile
Due to prolonged high temperatures and drought, multiple wildfires, continue to devastate some regions of Chile, consuming hundreds of hectares of forest.
A part of the city of Puerto Montt, in Llanquihue Province, was evacuated on Monday, due to a forest fire, that threatened a group of houses in the town.
A Red Alert was declared in the commune of Curacaví, in Melipilla Province, due to the forest fire, that threatens populated sectors, and caused visibility problems on Route 68, with the dense smoke.
The National Forestry Corporation of Chile highlighted, that numerous firefighter teams are fighting the blazes, but they continue to spread rapidly.

Serbia
The rain, which fell continuously on the Pešter plateau for two days, and melting snow, led to an increase in the water level and the overflowing of the Grabovica river, which flooded more than 40 households, in the territory of Sjenica.
The most difficult situation is in the Bukresh settlement, where water has penetrated houses, and auxiliary buildings.
Residents were evacuated from their homes, as floodwaters continued to rise rapidly.
Authorities also declared an emergency in the southwestern city of Prijepolje, due to the flooding of the Lim river.
Meteorological services warn of more rain in the coming days.

Iran
A strong and shallow earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.8, struck in Western Azarbaijan Province, in the Turkey-Iran border region, at 10:08 UTC, at a depth of 10 km, or 6.2 miles.
At least 194 people were injured, trying to escape to safety, 24 of them severely, and more than 500 residential units, in 15 villages, were damaged, officials from the area said.
