Did MLK Actually Believe in Jesus?

Martin Luther King Jr. wrote of a world where there were no more wars, where there was a better redistribution of wealth, and where brotherhood would transcend race and color. This statement by itself is admirable and morally sound. However, King referred to this vision as “the gospel [he] will preach to the world.” Treating this ideal as gospel is what draws critique from "Fearless" contributor Virgil Walker, as he states, “This is not the gospel that Jesus Christ preached … This is not the gospel that Paul lays out in 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4 … [MLK] wanted to see the world change outside in an effort to see hearts transformed as a result.”
