Learn the LVP Flooring Installation process with this DIY, beginner friendly instructional video! Specifically, you will learn how to install luxury vinyl plank flooring in a basement - but you can use these steps to install vinyl plank flooring in any room.

To install LVP (Vinyl Plank) flooring, you will need to the following tools and materials 🧰:
Vinyl Plank Flooring: https://www.metroflor.com/shop/products
LVP Installation Kit (Includes spacers, tapping block, hammer, pull-bar, etc.): https://amzn.to/3R3ynFD
Utility Knife: https://amzn.to/3QW7rY7

Circular Saw: https://amzn.to/3w9ZMvR
Jig Saw: https://amzn.to/3ZJoxMU
Transition Moldings (Optional): https://www.metroflor.com/documents/Genesis_Moldings.pdf

To install LVP flooring as a beginner, you will need to follow these general steps:
1. Prepare the Room for LVP Installation
Preparation for vinyl plank installation includes:
- Removal of any dirt or debris from the floor.
- Ensuring that the room is perfectly flat and correct any problem areas with self-leveling underlayment.
- Removal of baseboards.
2. Position Spacers around the Room
Because LVP is a "floating floor" you will want to have 1/4" spacers positioned around the room to allow for expansion and contraction.
3. Plan out your LVP Layout.
Every successful vinyl plank flooring project begins with planning. Plan your LVP layout carefully.
4. Install the First Row of LVP.
You always want to install the first row of LVP flooring in the "back left" corner of the room.
5. Cut and Trim the Vinyl Plank Flooring as needed.
To cut LVP flooring, use a utility knife and a carpenter's square to score and snap the plank along the cut line. You can also use a miter saw, circular saw, and a jig saw to cut LVP as well.
6. Install Vinyl Plank Transition Molding (if needed).
If desired, you can install LVP transition molding to transition from one floor type to another.
7. Install Baseboard and Final Touches.
The last step in the LVP installation process is to install (or re-install) the baseboards around the room in order to hide the 1/4" expansion gap.
