What Are the Most Common Symptoms of Long COVID?

Many healthcare providers do not know how to recognize the symptoms of long COVID and do not understand what causes the illnesses that contribute to this chronic syndrome. Many patients cannot find care or are being told there is nothing wrong with them and sent away. This happens because often the tests and studies come back with no findings of illness and practitioners don't know what to look for.

The FLCCC aims to demonstrate the most common symptoms and how to find
treatment and support. No one should suffer silently.

If you are unsure if you have long COVID, make an appointment with a telehealth provider for an evaluation.

A recent meta-analysis studied patients who were sick at home and/or hospitalized. This was a large study that included data collected from 1.2 million people.

The most common symptoms were:
• breathing problems
• fatigue, body pain, mood swings
• problems with thinking, reasoning, and memory (brain fog)

Women were often affected more than men. Patients who had COVID-19 outside of the hospital symptoms for up to 4 months. Patients who were in the hospital with COVID-19 had symptoms for up to 9 months. Few of the patients who had long COVID still had symptoms at 12 months. The data showed a few people with no symptoms of COVID-19 had also developed long COVID.
