This is the story of Private Shizuya Hayashi who singlehandedly took down 18 enemy combatants and captured 4 prisoners in an all out hill assault in World War 2.

An example of extreme bravery and heroism.

On November 29, 1943 in Cerasuolo Italy:
Shizayu and his company were tasked with a complex flank assault on a high ground area held by enemy forces. Shizayu charged the enemy line alone, firing his BAR from the hip staring down grenades, rifles, and machine gun fire from the enemy. He could hear bullets whizzing by, feel the heat of a bullet as it grazed his neck, and hear the screams of the enemy.
He pressed on shooting as he went neutralizing 7 enemy combatants where they stood and taking out 2 more as they tried to flee to a new fortification. The remainder of the forces fled their position. Shizayu’s platoon advanced further and were met with heavy fire from an anti-0aircraft gun faced to the ground at them. Despite the thunderous noise and heavy fire Shizayu returned fire killing 9 more enemy combatants. Terrified, 4 enemies immediately surrendered to Shizayu and were captured.
Shizayu and his team captured the enemy position and held it.
