Martin Luther King Jr. was named Michael, after his father, at birth. He and his father changed their names upon his father's return from an inspiring trip where he was introduced to the teachings of Martin Luther. The man who spoke truth to power to the Church by nailing his famous debate topics on their door, and pressing their teachings to the point of being ostracized, would inspire the dream of another bearing his name and leading a people in the fight of speaking truth to power.
