NO MORE METAL COOLANT ISSUES with PLAYSTATION 5!!

In early 2023 rumors began to swirl that there was a design flaw in the Sony PlayStation 5. According to one news outlet and picked up by others, standing the PS5 vertically caused the liquid metal coolant to run off of crucial components on the board, which could cause the system to no longer function. This sent a number of people scurrying for ways to lay their system down horizontally to prevent this from happening. This is since been debunked, however, I still prefer having my system horizontal versus vertical which should lead to no more metal coolant issues with the Sony Playstation 5. Here's how and why.

The problem was laying the PlayStation down horizontally with the stock stand is terrible. Don't get me wrong, vertically it attaches to the system wonderfully and holds it quite well. But there's just a friction fit to hold it into place horizontally, and frankly, it's a garbage design. For over a year I have been using a horizontal mount from Nexigo, and it's one of my favorite accessories for the PlayStation 5.

The overall design is pretty simple. It has three total pieces, a left, right, and for the digital-only version, support for in the middle. Non-slip feet keep the system from sliding around both when you set it on something, and also the system itself. The white molded composite matches the color of the system very well, and if you didn't know better, you may think it was an official Sony accessory.

Installation takes mere seconds, depending on which version of the system you have. For me with my disk version, I had to get the support piece out of one side prior to installation. This wasn't easy and it took me a few minutes to remove it as the tolerances are pretty tight. Once I had the pieces slid in place, however, I was good to go. The rocking was gone. The slipping and sliding were gone. I had a precise and secure way to have my PS5 orientated horizontally if and when I so desired. This is everything I wish the OEM Sony piece was and more.

Why it RoX:
- Elegant in its simplicity
- Under $30
- Matches the color of the system perfectly
- Compatible with digital-only and disk version
- Extremely stable

What could be improved:
- Getting the digital-only support piece out is a bit of a pain
- I'd really like to see this under 20 bucks
- This is splitting hairs, but I'd like the tabs to be just a hair tighter around the edges of the system
- More colors would be great

Should you buy one?

This thing is a slam dunk, if you own a PlayStation 5 and store it in a horizontal orientation, don't think about it, don't consider It, just buy this. The included PS5 stand is nothing short of terrible for horizontal orientation, there's no way you can say otherwise, and this is an improvement across the board. It provides tremendous stability, it looks good, it's easy to install and remove, as I said, It's really a no-brainer for PlayStation 5 owners. While I do wish it was a little bit less expensive, under 20 bucks would be the sweet spot, in my opinion, Nexigo has really done a great job in executing an elegant yet simplistic design that simply works.

So there it is, don't worry about your PlayStation 5 overheating or the liquid cooling running off of the board. The next ago horizontal PlayStation 5 stand works with both the PS5 digital version and the disc version, and for under $30 is one of the best investments you could make on your system.
