Ninth Sphere - King of Tyre

King of Tyre is the third song on the debut EP of Ninth Sphere, my Black Metal band.

The name "Ninth Sphere" is a reference to the ancient and medieval idea that reality is divided into separate celestial spheres. Sphere number nine is the sphere of the angels.

And in Christian lore, Uriel is the archangel who will shout a battle cry, along with the archangel Michael’s trumpet, when Heaven’s army returns to earth.

The music for Uriel was recorded between 2011 and 2012 in my studio in Alberta, Canada. The vocals were recorded in 2019 in North Dakota, USA.

Uriel features my songwriting and playing with Azahel (from Frost Like Ashes) on vocals. In some ways, Uriel was an experiment to see how we could work together remotely. I think it was a success, and we decided Uriel needed to be made available to the fans of Sympathy, Frost Like Ashes, and Possession.

The Ninth Sphere logos were created by Chris Olson and the album artwork was painted by Kris Verwimp.

We have already recorded two singles and a second album. The new album is a BIG step forward. More on this in the coming months.

Ninth Sphere’s in a distinct style of metal that Sympathy, Frost Like Ashes, or Possession. There are plodding and atmospheric moments of black metal, aggressive thrash riffs, and sometimes a hint of prog.

We’d like you to listen to the album and tell us what you hear.

I suggest sitting alone in the dark and listening at a high volume. It's an atmospheric album meant to flow from song to song.
