AND it opens the door to the real plot reveals as pertaining to, why does NERV exist? What are the angels? Why do they always attack Tokyo(-3)? What is Gendo Ikari really up to? Does Rei have a personality, or is she just ChatGPT in a fleshy shell? But again, none of these questions are answered, so much as brought to the surface.
