“Roman Concrete” by Daniel Ericks (LIVE at Leftovers Cafe in Jupiter, FL)

Everyone and everything that almost broke me, only succeeded in tempering my true strengths!

I’ve been through traumatic relationships and emotional/psychological abuse as well as living the majority of my life with undiagnosed neurodivergence. Earlier this week (Monday, Jan 9th 2023) I had an inspiration and wrote this song “Roman Concrete” about taking all that abuse, pain and trauma and using it to create a better life for myself and hopefully blaze a path for others like me to live open, full and most importantly, FULFILLING lives again.

See Roman Concrete was mixed at high temperatures, leaving deposits of limestone in the mix. When stress causes the concrete to fracture, air and water creep into the cracks and cause chemical reactions with those limestone deposits which then act as a kind of “glue” to heal and strengthen the stone. This is what it is to recover from severe and prolonged traumas. That is why this song is titled “Roman Concrete” and not “Mud” or something like that.
