Supposedly, it can recognize, examine, and point out the directions of laser emissions from laser rangefinders and laser guidance systems.

According to the user manual (found as well), the device can locate all current laser rangefinders, illuminators, and designators that operate in the 0.8 to 1.8 meter range.

It should be noted that Spider gives direction to the source of laser radiation, an aural warning (voice message), and a subtle indication of radiation exposure.

The fighter is alerted in three different ways: by vibration audio (indicating “left”, “center” or “right”), by light (due to the LEDs inside) and by a combination of the first two.

The Spider can work for 12 hours in a temperature range from -30 to +40 degrees thanks to two batteries.
