I've had many messages recently from people who are struggling with sleep which is absolutely fundamental to our health. There are many important benefits to getting enough sleep including something called autophagy otherwise known as mitigating motor complexes. Autophagy or MMC is the process of the body cleaning up the cells and taking out the trash. We have a brand new cellular body every seven years. During MMC, older, damaged, and dying cells are consumed and eaten and recycled for energy and are replaced by newer, healthier cells. 
Disruption of autophagy is caused by sleep deprivation and leads to defective oxidative stress management, accumulation of cellular waste, and eventually this will lead to dis-ease.
