Enroll your boys in martial arts!

All boys should do martial arts!

I posted a video last week where I was talking about the importance of mentors in the life of boys and young men. One of the comments I received was from a single mother, her son is 10. She was wondering where she could find a mentor for him if she didn’t have quality men in her life?

I recommended she enrolls her son in martial arts. I even offered to help her find a school with a great instructor, a leader of men. There are so many great instructors out there that wants to help the next generation of men become good men!

Unfortunately, she never answered my text, and it got me thinking as to why. I might be wrong, but I believe it might have to do with the stigma around martial arts. People see the violence of the combat sports and assume that we are all brutes. Savages that are looking for blood. There are two types of people that fight in a ring/cage. There are fighters and martial artists. And there is a world of difference between the 2.

A fighter will use martial arts as a tool to an end, whatever the end is. Could be that he has so much pain that he wants to be able to hurt others legally. It might be that he needs to fight to eat. There are a lot of other reasons why martial arts can be used by fighters.

Then you have martial artists, and I am a martial artist! Martial arts have taught me skills that I never knew I could possess. It showed me that I am so much stronger than I thought. It has given me the confidence that no matter what happens, I can get through it. Is

I started martial arts just so I could learn to defend myself. I never expected that I would make me the men I am today.

If you are the single mother of a boy/young man enroll him in martial arts. Find a great instructor, a leader he can look up to because boys need mentorship. If you don’t find one for them, they will find their own. Chances are, it’s not going to be a good one.

Know that good men still exist, and it is YOUR responsibility as a parent to make sure your boys have one in their life. If you don’t know where to find them, martial arts school is a great place to start. If you need help finding one, I want to help you. DM me and let's help your boy together.
