Naturevore: FLORIDA FORAGING Walk #15 (Dec. 25): The PASSION of the FRUIT and Winged Yam

7

Collin Gow, C.N.C. goes foraging with his son August on a cold Christmas day in Florida. Together they identify and discuss wild edible plants and fungi and their medicinal uses and health benefits. Of particular interest, they find probably the last harvest of the year of passionfruit, as well as a rare sighting of winged yam, plus multiple species of fungi. Botany, morphology, phenology, nutrition, phytochemistry, ethnopharmacology, mycology, folk, traditional, Native American (American Indian), and biological actions and uses of plants, fungi, and lichen are casually discussed.
