This is the start of my journey with my #phalaenopsis Insolence, that has a terminal spike. Terminal: The End, predicted to lead to the end of the #,orchid very slowly; incurable. An Orchid with a terminal spike has not more access to new leaves, seeing as the positioning of the terminal spike is exactly where new leaves would grow. How many leaves does a phalaenopsis need to develop spikes? Usually 2... so, without being able to grow new leaves from the point at which the terminal spike is growing, the orchid is doomed. Energy conservation is now key! The orchid has to find a way to grow a keiki, a baby orchid, or a basal growth. This is only the beginning of the journey! The decline of phalaenopsis orchids with terminal or central spikes, is very very slow... but, there is a chance that the orchid will fight for her survival and grow a keiki, a baby orchid! Conditions: a lot of light, without burning the leaves, temperatures consistently above 20ºC / 68ºF and fertilizer / supplements / seaweed as with a healthy phalaenopsis orchid. #orchids #terminalspike #phalaenopsis #orchidcare #orquideas #plantas #houseplants #urbangardening #orchideen #beginners #keiki #babyorchids
