The differences between decentralized exchange and centralized exchange

A decentralized exchange, or DEX, is a type of cryptocurrency exchange that operates on a blockchain network. This means that it does not rely on a central authority to facilitate transactions, but instead uses smart contracts to match buyers and sellers directly. This allows for more privacy and security, as user funds are stored on the blockchain rather than on a central server.

A centralized exchange, on the other hand, is a traditional type of cryptocurrency exchange that is run by a company or organization. These exchanges act as intermediaries, holding users' funds in custody and matching buyers and sellers on their platform. Because they control the flow of funds, they are able to offer more features such as leveraged trading, margin trading and better liquidity. However, centralized exchanges are more susceptible to hacking and other security risks, and user funds are not as secure as on a decentralized exchange.

In summary, DEXs offer more privacy and security, but have less trading options. While centralized exchanges have more trading options but it’s less secure as compared to DEXs.
