The new 118th congress Republican house rules lay out how the house of representatives will operate for the next legislative session. The new house rules passed with all but 1 GOP congressmen voting for the resolution. Many of the important changes to the new republican house rules include, the ability for a single representative to start a no confidence vote in the speaker, a 72 hour review period prior to voting on bills and no annual omnibus mega bills, to name a few. With these new house rules, conservatives hope to pass legislation on specific issues only, avoiding packing every issue into one giant bill that ends up costing trillions.

The house of representatives also voted to defund the IRS (internal revenue service) to the tune of billions of dollars. This political move was in response to Biden signing into law the expansion of the IRS by about 87,000 new agents.

Matt Gaetz has also proposed an amendment to the house rules which would allow C-SPAN cameras to always be rolling whenever there are activities taking place on the house floor. This is huge, as this would make congress a lot more transparent. Additionally, the citizens would be able to see their elected representatives at work.
