One day, she was given to us. The next she had babies. A breeder but a pet.

No matter what, you will get attached to your animals. Yet, death is still knocking on the door.

As a farmer and a homesteader, some decisions are hard. This was one of them.

Our sweet, lovable, laid back rabbit, named Cookie, her time was up. She no longer served her purpose.

It is hard but it is the truth and life of a farmer.

She was old, but it is still hard to decide to cull one of your animals. This is our first. I know it won’t be our last.

As we lay her down to rest, our homestead will continue, just without her…
