A large tree blocked a road in Sacramento, California, as the National Weather Service (NWS) forecasted damaging winds in the region on Sunday, January 8th. Footage posted to Twitter by user @ke0n0tiger shows a toppled-over tree blocking cars on a road in Sacramento. At least 12 people have died in a series of powerful atmospheric river storms that have battered California since December 31st, according to news reports. President Biden approved an Emergency Declaration for the state on January 8th and ordered federal assistance to supplement response efforts. The NWS warned of flooding for parts of Sacramento on January 9th as evacuation orders were issued in the region.
