Typical Animal From The Maluku Islands
People call it walking sharks because when they are swimming in the sea, they use 4 fins on both sides of their body to make it look like they are walking. In the world, there are 9 species of walking sharks, and 5 of them are known to live in Indonesian waters. Interestingly, there is 1 species of walking shark that can only be found in North Maluku waters, to be precise in the waters of Loleo (Central Halmahera), Tidore Island, Maitara, Lelei (South Halmahera) and Mare. This species is known as the “Halmahera Walking Shark”.
Local residents named this animal as kuso. The blue-eyed cuscus is endemic to the islands of Ternate and Tidore. As the name implies, these marsupials are unique, namely their two eyeballs are blue. They are animals that are active at night and like to live alone or are solitary.
