PR "Mavericks" Madonna

In December 1990 Madonna appeared on Dateline defending freedom of speech, sexuality, and social concerns children and parents faced at the time. Madonna in the mid-eighties and nineties was a vocal advocate for free speech and sexuality whether you agreed with her stance or not. She understood how to work the PR machine which cemented her stardom.

Madonna in this interview was in her early 30s and breaking new ground that was rarely expressed by other female artists during this time.
