Ryan Reynolds wishes Canadian Tire a happy 100th birthday

The well-known actor and philanthropist wish Canadian Tire a happy birthday, a greeting that had Reynolds reminiscing about growing up with the iconic stores and talking about his father’s handyman skills.Like so many other Canadians, Reynolds seems to have grown up regarding Canadian Tire as the only destination for household goods and building supplies, not to mention CCM bicycles, toboggans and Christmas lights.

Canadian Tire donated millions to various charities and for PPE to help during COVID, throwing their corporate weight behind health care workers in the country.

Reynolds thanked Canadian Tire on behalf of health care workers, “coast to coast to coast.” The national retailer donated $5 million in their COVID-19 Response Fund to provide essential products such as scrubs, masks and goggles to health care workers; store-based PPE drives across the country yielded hundreds of thousands of pairs of surgical gloves and masks and many thousand litres of hand sanitizer.

Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively have likewise been hugely supportive of various charitable initiatives during COVID, donating millions to food banks in Canada and the U.S. and leading PPE drives for health care workers.

They have donated to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto and raised untold amounts more through ongoing fundraising efforts, such as Reynolds’ annual ugly Christmas sweater drive. The actor gets other high-profile people to take part, and with the help of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2021, raised $850,000 for the hospital.
